Homemaker & Companion Licensure
The Homemaker & Companion license is for those operators that want to get a warm introduction to caring for the disabled and senior population before beginning a home care agency.
Operators provides non-medical, in-home support services to seniors, adults with disabilities, or individuals recovering from illness. They focus on maintaining a safe, clean home environment and providing social engagement, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, transportation, and companionship, without offering hands-on personal care or medical assistance.
Homemakers and companions provide supportive services to assist a client with completing their day-to-day tasks. Their responsibilities cannot include direct assistance such as bathing or other services that would need direct contact with a caregiver.
The duties of a homemaker and companion can include, but are not limited to:
- Accompanying clients to medical appointments
- Accompanying clients to social appointments
- Helping with organizing mails
- Medication reminders
- Helping with scheduling appointments
